Wednesday, October 10th
Scheduled departure is 6:00 am as we make our way to Abilene, Texas. We will stop for lunch and to stretch our legs along the way. For our first night out together, dinner is included at a local restaurant.

Thursday, October 11th
One more day on the road as we make our way to Albuquerque, New Mexico, where we will spend three nights. We will stop along the way and dinner will be on your own when we arrive.


Friday, October 12th
     Today will be a day of big adventure as we depart the hotel at 5:45 am for the Balloon Field. At 7:00 am we will view the Special Shapes Rodeo, which since its inception in 1989 has become one of the most popular events at the annual Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta. Following the Special Shapes Rodeo we will begin our tour of Albuquerque with our very own Step on Guide. We will visit Boca Negra Canyon and see one of the largest petroglyphs sites in North America.

     Next we will visit the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center for Indian dancing. You can also shop in their extensive gift shop for Native American products, tour the Museum that highlights the culture of all 19 pueblo groups, and be sure to see the exquisite Art Gallery where famous Indian artist display their work. Lunch will be on your own. You can choose your favorite food from 5 different restaurants. In the afternoon we will go to Albuquerque’s historic Old Town. It is a 2 block area full of shops, a historic church, a traditional Spanish Plaza and more. First we will learn about turquoise (which you see everywhere in NM) at the Turquoise Museum. Then there will be a walking tour of the highlights and time for shopping or just sitting on a bench eating an ice cream cone.

      Next we will start back to the Balloon Field for the Special Shapes Glowedo. Dinner is on your own at the Balloon Field. Don’t worry there are tons of food stands and usually some free stuff too. And don’t forget to shop for balloon Christmas ornaments, balloon earrings or balloon sweaters! The day concludes with a fireworks show.

Saturday, October 13th
Today we see beautiful Santa Fe and Chimayo. We begin at the most unique capitol building in the U.S. We stroll downhill passing the Old Mission Church, Loretto Chapel with it famous miraculous staircase, the Palace of the Governors and St. Francis Cathedral. There will be time for personal shopping and exploring. Lunch is on your own and then we take a very scenic drive up to Chimayo. Our first stop is the famous Santuario de Chimayo. You will have an opportunity to take home some of the sand that is believed to have curative powers. We will also stop at Ortega’s world famous weaving shop. A special dinner is included tonight at Rancho de Chimayo. Then we head back to our hotel.

Sunday, October 14th
On our way out of town this morning we make one last stop in Old Town. You can shop and for those of you who want to attend Mass, there is a 10:15 a.m. at San Felipe de Neri. (There are different alternatives: Mass at 8:00 am on the Westside or a Spanish Mass at San Felipe de Neri at 8:30 am. Please keep in mind that most Old Town stores do not open before 10:30 am on Sundays.) Then we will make our way to Amarillo, Texas where we will spend the night. Tonight’s dinner is included at the Big Texan Steak House. Return to hotel after dinner.

Monday, October 15th
After a very good breakfast this morning we will make our way down to the Irving Texas, (near Dallas). Lunch and rest stops will be along the way and dinner is on your own tonight.

Tuesday, October 16th
Following breakfast we will begin to make our way back home. We will stop for lunch along the way. Approximate arrival time will be 5:30pm. This is an experience that you will not want to miss!!
